Union Street Technologies Ltd, the leading supplier of billing solutions for communication providers (CPs), has supplied Aonix UK Limited with the aBILLity billing platform and WLR3 Portal solution. The move follows Aonix UK Limited’s decision to switch from a competitive billing software supplier.

Vincent Disneur, (left) Sales Manager for Union Street with John Adams, Technical Director, Aonix UK Limited.

With over 280 customers for lines and calls, a key factor in Aonix UK Limited’s decision was the scalability of aBILLity compared to the previous billing system. The automation of many routine procedures that previously had to be managed manually was another factor in Aonix UK Limited’s switch to aBILLity.

Aonix UK Limited has also made the migration to WLR3 using Union Street’s WLR3 Portal designed to integrate fully with the aBILLity billing platform. The seamless integration of the aBILLity billing platform with the WLR3 Portal Solution provides significant business benefits in terms of reduced data entry, faster order processing, extra validation and reduced errors.

Aonix UK Limited is a highly successful technology and telecommunications solutions provider, that also offers marketing and creative design consultancy, including website development. The company operates nationally with offices in the West Midlands, Greater Manchester and Edinburgh.

Aonix UK Limited’s, Technical Director, John Adams stated, "Union Street’s leadership and structured project management approach proved very professional, quickly understanding our business requirements. The move to aBILLity and WLR3 has proved to be a great success."

Commenting for Union Street, Vincent Disneur, Sales Manager said, "We are delighted to have secured Aonix UK Limited as a customer for aBILLity.
Union Street upgrades customers to release 1300 for WLR3

Union Street Technologies Ltd, the leading supplier of billing and WLR3 solutions for communication providers (CPs), has become one of the first system integrators to launch software that uses the new features of release 1300 of BT Openreach’s Equivalence Management Platform (EMP) for WLR3 access. The new 1300 EMP release introduced in mid-March has some significant benefits that Union Street customers can now take advantage of.

Steve Cresswell, Technical Director for Union Street.

WLR3 (wholesale line rental 3) has been introduced by BT Openreach to provide a level playing field for communication providers (CPs) with BT Retail, through a policy of equivalence of access. To utilise WLR 3, CPs must interface with the BT Openreach EMP. This means that CPs need to either develop their own gateway or partner with a systems integrator such as Union Street, who can provide a solution.

There are more CPs using the Union Street WLR3 Portal than any other solution in the marketplace. While the WLR3 Portal Solution is suitable for CPs with other billing platforms, when used in conjunction with the Union Street aBILLity billing platform it gives significant business benefits in terms of reduced data entry, faster order processing, extra validation and reduced errors.

For Union Street, Steve Cresswell, Technical Director, comments "We upgraded the first five customers to use the new features of release 1300 within in days of its release by Openreach, which I believe is way ahead of any competitor. We have a rolling programme to upgrade 25 customers a day which is a significant logistical challenge but part of our service commitment to our customer base. Release 1300 has some significant advantages such as the moving of numbers to between lines without losing service when a CP’s customer moves premises. We intend that Union Street customers will be ahead of the curve for WLR3 deployment and we have invested in considerable staff resources to ensure that they do."

Union Street expands support team for WLR3 transition

Union Street Technologies Ltd the leading supplier of billing solutions for communication providers, has recruited four new support staff specifically to assist communication provider (CP) customers with the transition from Openreach WLR2 (BT Service Provider Gateway) to WLR3 access. All have previous WLR experience with communication providers.

Stephen Dougherty (centre) Support Team Manager for Union Street with four new WLR3 transition support staff.

To use WLR3 (wholesale line rental 3) CPs must interface with the BT Openreach Equivalence Management Platform (EMP). Union Street was one of the first third party integrators to offer CPs an interface solution with its WLR3 Portal. While the WLR3 Portal is suitable for CPs using other billing platforms, when used in conjunction with the Union Street’s aBILLity billing platform, it gives significant additional business benefits including reduced data entry, faster order processing, extra validation and reduced errors.

The four new WLR3 support staff will assist Union Street customers with migration issues arising from the transition to WLR3. Openreach has announced a firm withdrawal date of 30 June 2011, by which time all CPs must migrate to WLR3. Openreach have advised that CPs should have completed WLR3 service establishment by 31 March 2011.

For Union Street, Tony Cook, Managing Director said "The transition to WLR3 represents a major challenge for our customers. While there are great benefits for CPs using WLR3, the changes to current working practices are considerable with increased responsibility levels for CPs. For the majority of our customers that have implemented the Union Street WLR3 Portal solution, we want to ensure that the transition is as seamless and pain free as possible so that they can enjoy the many benefits of WLR3 with the minimum of hassle".

Union Street’s aBILLity 1.5 offers WLR3 integration

Union Street Technologies Ltd the leading supplier of billing solutions for communication providers, has announced the introduction of version 1.5 of its aBILLity billing platform for communication providers (CPs). The new version offers aBILLity some significant performance enhancements.

Tony Cook, managing director of Union Street.

Most importantly aBILLity 1.5 incorporates Union Street’s WLR3 Portal Solution, which is designed to integrate fully with the aBILLity billing platform, giving significant business benefits. Customers only need a license key from Union Street to activate to WLR3 Portal Solution functionality. The seamless integration of the aBILLity billing platform with the WLR3 Portal Solution provides significant business benefits in terms of reduced data entry, faster order processing, extra validation and reduced errors.
The WLR3 module enables CPs to interface with the Openreach Equivalence Management Platform (EMP). With no additional software to purchase, there is no capital outlay, just a monthly service charge. With the announcement by Openreach of the withdrawal of WLR2 by July 2011, migration to WLR3 for CPs has now become imperative. Union Street’s aBILLity 1.5 with provides CPs an easy route to WLR3

aBILLity 1.5 also incorporates many new features particularly around bundled usage plans, commission structures and other subtle improvements.

It is Union Street’s aim that where possible, existing aBILLity customers will be upgraded to version 1.5 free of charge over the coming months, providing they have a current service contract. New customers will benefit from deployment of aBILLity 1.5 immediately.

Commenting on the launch of aBILLity 1.5, Tony Cook, managing director of Union Street, said "At Union Street we have a policy of continual product improvement. It is important for us as a service provider that our customers have access to the latest innovations in application design as soon as they become available. All the integrated WLR3 functionality is built into aBILLity 1.5 so customers can move easily to WLR3 provisioning with a simple license key release. We anticipate that many of our customers will wish to upgrade, with the withdrawal of WLR2 now definite."
