Union Street’s Sales Manager Vincent Disneur’s run on the hit BBC show The Apprentice lasted five weeks, but came to an end in a sensational double firing. One of the few personalities to really stand out in the series Vincent had the misfortune to be in Team Logic, which lost consistently in the task wars, meaning that Vincent was always on the losing side.
Having escaped from the boardroom showdown in Episode 3 (Buying for the Savoy), Vincent was ‘volunteered’ by Lord Sugar as team leader in Episode 5 with a brief to design, brand and market a new dog food. Eschewing expert advice from a canine vet, Vincent backed by team mate Jim, decided on a dog food suitable for all dogs and came up with the imaginative name Every Dog.
Well every dog has its day they say, but this wasn’t Vincent’s day. The ad agency where Team Logic had to pitch their marketing plan hated the concept. Although the team’s TV commercial was superior to the rival effort, it wasn’t enough to save Vincent from the boardroom finale. Vincent then made a tactical error in bringing in Ellie and Natasha, when clearly Lord Sugar felt that Jim should be in the firing line. As a result his Lordship accepted Ellie as the sacrificial lamb, but also gave Vincent his marching orders.
Commenting on Vincent’s Apprentice run, Tony Cook, Managing Director of Union Street said, “It’s been riveting to watch Vincent scramble his way through the tasks in recent weeks. Knowing him to be a skilled business sales professional I don’t think he had a real chance to shine. But I think the show was certainly more fun with him than it will be without him. Lord Sugar’s loss is Union Street’s gain.
